Clean Ford Escape Cabin Air Filter

Much like a regular air filter filters the air that circulates in the car's engine, a cabin air filter filters air that passes through the vents and heating and air-conditioning systems. Locate the black plastic air filter housing on the driver's side of the engine compartment, behind the battery.

Open the hood. Remove the cap or caps by prying them off with a flathead screwdriver. Set the cap or caps aside to be reinserted when you are done installing the new cabin air filter.



Remove the rain guard from behind the cover panel (this guard is marked has a little handle--pull the handle to remove the cover). Pull the elderly filter out.
