Change Ford Escape Cabin Air Filter

Replacing the air filter in the Ford Escape is an simple job that can be done in a couple of minutes. The air filter is designed to keep particles & contaminants from getting in to the Ford Escape engine process & clogging it up. The filter is placed in the air filter housing, which is enclosed to give the engine another layer of protection against outside dust & debris. You can replace the filter in the coursework of a car's scheduled tune-up (about every to six months) & save the time & expense of having a mechanic alter the filter for you as a separate maintenance job. A quantity of the newer models of the Ford Escape, including a quantity of the hybrid engines, place the air filter on the top middle or the top front of the engine, inside a black plastic housing.

Locate the circular plastic cap or caps on the passenger-side plastic piece below where your windshield wipers rest. You can best see these when the hood is down.

Open the hood & then remove the screws on the front fringe of the cowling assembly with a Phillips screwdriver.

Unfasten the metal clips on the top of the air filter housing & pull the housing apart to access the air filter.

Insert the replacement filter in to the slot. Re-insert the rain shield to protect the cabin air filter.
